The best way to disable touchpad in Ubuntu

Strictly speaking, it isn't a Synaptics Touchpad. It is an Alps
Touchpad.

Now, in an attempt to fix the issue:


Try to reinstall xserver-xorg-input-synaptics, reboot, open a terminal
window and type:


synclient -l


and post the results here.


Also what version of Ubuntu are you running?
