nm-applet disappeared

Sorry, I should have noticed "is no more shown in the Notification Bar".
You can try the following:

$ killall gnome-panel

That will kill both gnome panels & restart them. Check to see if the
Network Manager applet appears. If it does not, then check
/home/<username>/.xsession-errors and see if that provides some clue as
to why the applet is not showing up.
