Yep, and I'll make that suggestion in the future.
If one has to go thru hoops to get sound to work by fiddling with
scripts then PulseAudio is not ready for use. Alsa sound has worked for
years so why replace it with something which doesn't work out-of-the-box?
OK, you have a need for PulsAudio then fine, use it. But for those who
have no need for it, for those newbies who have just installed Ubuntu
Lucid and who cannot get sound (like myself last night and who wasted
time trying to work out why I had no sound) then deleting PA is the
quick answer.
