If you're going to have him give you more information before you can
help him, why not *actually* help him by letting him know what
information to give us?

Has he installed any drivers? What video card/chipset?

For the sake of brevity, use http://paste.ubuntu.com and paste in the
output of lspci | grep VGA
Also, if you can list anything you have tried or done may help in case
something needs reversing.
