You should have read it completely. That "hack" was very unfruitful.
They were hacking chinese humans rights activists email accounts.
Google said that the accounts themselves weren't really comprimised.
They also stated how it happened, and afaik it wasn't the operating
system, but the software had a vulnerability.
You can't really blame linux for a bug in the software you run on it.
It just doesn't work like that.
