Even easier, use VirtualBox and try out things with that.

Thanks for the suggestion. This seems like something
that I should try.
Someone suggested using removeable hard disks as a way
to use different environments. I am not wanting to get
too deep into the OS. This computer is my iternet
computer that I use mostly for internet access. I have
a Windows computer that is not networked because of the
dangers of infections - which I got despite using the
Comcast supplied MaCafe. And I know of at leat three
others for whom the McCafe did not protect them.
