Sendmail is very slow!

Let me to recommend to you POSTFIX as MTA para linux, try in www.postfix.com or .org

Hello !
I have installed sendmail on my ubuntu 9.10 and configured it with 
sendmailconfigure. Then I installed mutt and mailutitls , so far so 
good. But when I tried to send a mail it was slow... and by slow I mean 
very slow, a minute or two per mail. Everything is normal ( my 113, 25 
ports are opened , connection to my dns is good  - the problem appears 
even with 8.8.8.8 )
Where is the problem? How to fix it?
