I the iwlagn modules are present, but not loaded in either 2.6.24-26 or
-27 generic. Loading them and restarting hal & networks makes no
difference.

Thanks for pointing out that driver... looking through launchpad for
that pops up quite a few issues in hardy and intrepid. Looks like I'll
need to spend a full day or so getting it sorted out if I want wifi
working in 8.04. Not sure if it's worth it at this point w/10.4 working
& scheduled for release next month.

Given that it's a test install, I might go ahead & do an 8.04 to 10.04
"upgrade" on it to see the results. I can always reload 8.04 (only issue
is then I need to reload grub2 back from a karmic or lucid liveCD when I
do, but I'm getting good at that :-).
