Sorry, wrong terminology.  Yes, the monitor is blanked and then the 
monitor goes into a low power state, (The green light turns orange)

And when running jaunty, a scroll of the mouse wheel or touch of the 
space bar restored it, but not in Karmic.


Does anyone know if there is a bug, or a setting that has changed?  
Because there is a real energy savings, I'd like this to work.
