Antivirus and anti spam for ubuntu desktop

When I worked as network administrator with unixfreebsd I had the next configuration for mail transporter postfix+ spammassaisin + clamav+ amavis

My question is?
For avoid any inffection by computer virus by email using   any email client, my question is 
Can I use the clamav or avira +spammassaisin + amavis?
