How to record very faint sound from the analogue input?

Well, EE is not my field exactly and I had no idea it would turn in
this direction! I learned to solder fixing 30 year old cars'
electrical systems, but I have played a bit with circuit boards too.

I'll hunt a bit online if it is as basic as you suggest. Thanks!
