Alternative for Flash CS3 Professional ?

actionscript itself is just a plain text file, derived from javascript, isn't
it? 

Flex is a framework from Adobe. IIRC, there is an alpha Linux version but I
think it is well short of the windows version. 

The best bet is to use one of the Creative Suite products in a virtualized
environment.
