What is going on with my web browser?

Hello Everyone,

I'm having a problem with my web browser(s) that I can't seem to work
through. So I'm turning to the community for help as I'm sure someone
here has experienced this before.

Regardless of what browser I'm in (Firefox or Google Chrome) or what
version of Ubuntu I'm using (9.14 or Current) there are just times when
the browser just stalls. Specifically, it seems to happen very often on
any of the Google web apps but it's happening on other sites too (like
Ubuntu's main site). I will go to the site, click on a link, and it does
nothing. Just sits there saying 'Waiting on...". If I click REFRESH the
page will often refresh into the new page.

Can anyone tell me what might be going on?
