Can't Change Mouse Speed

Try

$ xset m 1 1

then move the mouse to see how slow it is then try

$xset m 5 1

to see how it  speeds up. An acceleration of 5 and a threshold of 1
are common settings for many people. If that does not work then it has
to be specific to the arc.
