On the opposite side, I just spent 4 hours updating, cleaning,
antivirusing, scanning, and rebooting 6 times in the process, a WinXPPro
drive that I hadn't booted in 1 month. I reckon that it will take a more
than a few more more hours to defrag the hard drive & test and tune. :-(
None of that involved updating to a new Win OS like Vista or Win7
(wouldn't be able to run either I suspect on the old hardware).
   Woops, I forgot that I also needed to update CCleaner, Spybot, AVG,
etc, etc, first. So I'll need to spend a few more hours redoing &
rebooting after the "updates". Pretty exiting eh?
