NO, NO, NO! Leave this setting alone.
Simply make sure that you send OUT the messages in plain text but you
can compose them in HTML.
One place where you set how the messages are sent is in the
Contacts/Address Book; but also in the Send Options in
Edit>Preferences>Composition.
