Where he says he did it all himself, it is true in the sense that nobody 
helped him to use the tools provided that allow one to create his own 
distribution. Did he take the pains of removing any credits from 
licensing/copyright/legal material? Did he specifically say he did it 
from scratch?

But I suppose some bad faith has been shown in his failure to be upfront 
about his distro being based on Ubuntu work. Still, it would appear that 
he did put in a bit of work to get a working environment save for 
infrastructure for supporting his distro.
