It hasn't yet crashed on me before my X session died for any of a vast
variety of resons anyway. I guess that's the main reason.  It also has
more configurability (to the best of my rememberizer).

It is not affiliated with either GNOME or KDE, and that's good, too.

Sadly, it isn't being supported anymore (since sometime in April last,
I believe).
