new install 10.04 server... grub>

Hi,


Im seeing alot of posts through my googling, is their still a bug with 
installing server and grub?  3rd install on a tested good 300gb drive, 
tested good install cd.  chose defaults for everything, use whole disk, 
no lvm.  all 3 tries, boots to grub> prompt.  one time I got grub rescue 
prompt on first install.

is the "find" command no longer a part of grub?   anyway, if I give the 
root command at the grub prompt, im given (hd0,1): Filesystem is Ext2.

this is an older HP pavilion that I wiped etch which was happily serving 
3 sites for about 2 years, and was planning on restoring with ubuntu 
server.
