If it is making a buzzing noise at the start of the boot sequence then
it is not software doing things to the drive. During that phase there
should only be a few clicks at it sets itself up. If it is the disk
then it suggests a fault, backup immediately if you have not already
done so. Alternatively as others have suggested, the fan is a good
possibility.
