centralized locate/updatedb question

i've 4 linux machines at home, one stays ON all the time, and others
come and go as laptops often do.

is this possible: updatedb on all these machines to report their
results to one location (over avahi or something), and i get to  query
said db from any of those 4 machines?

lets say i've a file sita-sings-the-blues.ogg only in one of those
machines, a laptop.

even though this laptop may be offline, when i say locate -i
sita-sings on another machine it comes back telling me that hey this
file may be on your laptop #2 ?

( next thing would be for it to seek a file against my 3 windows laptops)
