It's quite likely that more than a couple of hours will pass between a
message appearing at the archive and the googlebot happening upon it
and adding it to Google's cache.
That aside, it's not the most natural way of reading the discussion.
Google Groups takes much more advantage of the capability of the
web[0], and it presents the messages in such a way as to make it
relatively easy to follow threads. It's quite bad at branches of
threads, but Mailman's web interface is hardly better in that respect.
[0] Or, perhaps more accurately, Google Groups makes it look like a
webforum, Mailman keeps it looking like a mailing list.
