It's likely easier to fix the Gnome issue than to configure LTSP to be
shell only, if Gnome is more desirable.

I think you've posted here before with a similar issue? If so, and
you've received no response, I'd suggest trying one of the LTSP based
support channels, since there doesn't appear to be a lot of LTSP
experience here.
