How to indicate paths

I am trying to setup the dictionary software "EBview" under Ubuntu 9.04
The software has been installed.
Now I need to register dictionaries.

The same software does work under Windows and there can use the
dictionry files I have.
Those files are copied to an external HDD (named "speicher") in the
directory "Dictionaries"

On a setup screen of EBview the software wants to know where to look and
scan for readable
dictionary files (the path).

The said HDD is connected to the Linux machine, mounted (all files are
accessible) and works fine.
But when I enter:
/speicher/Dictionaries (with or without slash at the end, upper/lower
case letters etc.)
I always get the error message:
"Failed to open directory /SPEICHER/Dictionaries"

What **exactly** am I supposed to enter here to make the computer look
in the existing and working directory /speicher/Dictionaries?

Thank you.
