Why does whereis not show my scripts' locations?

Why isn't the "whereis" command not showing my scripts' locations?
Here it can be seen that ~/.bin is in my path, and that the script
"ooc" is in there. Launching "ooc" works fine from Krunner. So why
doesn't the "whereis" command show it?
