Yes, certainly. Using giganews europe as the example provider, and the
alt.binaries.pictures.wallpaper the newsgroup:

$ brag -s news-europe.giganews.com -P 119 -g
alt.binaries.pictures.wallpaper -l  username -p password -c

Translation:

$ brag -s [server] -P [port number] -g [newsgroup] -l [username] -p
[password] -c [complete binaries from other servers if necessary]
