[9.10] disabling AltGr+SysRq+K?

This is not a new set of keys, though maybe your students just recently
discovered it.

echo 0 > /proc/sys/kernel/sysrq  should disable them.  You can just put
that right in rc.local, or perhaps more "proper" add an entry to
sysctl.conf
