Running Application on Specified workspace.

Hi,

I am trying to autostart some applications, placing them on a specified workspace.  I have tried following a couple of different methods
without success (all start the apps on the same workspace)

So my questions are:

1. Do either of these work with 9.10 (which is what I am running)
2. If not, what does?
   2a. I like to run compiz, but if that's not in the cards -- I can do without

My hardware is:

MB899 Intel Core Single/Duo Mini-Itx Motherboard 945GM with 1 Gig of memory and an SSD harddrive (30G)
