May be we need to define what will be the function of the machine is.
I have to admit that currently I deploy the xBSD machine is just because 
I prefer ipf over iptables. And there are many benchmark out there for 
this comparison.
Desktop wise, the pain of using xBSD possibly equal to Slackware Linux. 
Ubuntu is light years ahead. I do not think I will be as productive as 
Ubuntu desktop using the xBSD desktop.
