Everybody SAMBA!

Now that hostname and hosts is finally sorted out ...

XP box and Ubuntu box connected via router (wired). Router connected to
internet via cable modem (wired). Both boxes are able to connect to
internet fine. Printer connected to XP via USB.

I've had both boxes talking to each other and sharing files and printer
before. For some reason they no longer will. Not in any direction.
I've used the home-network wizard on the XP box and set the workgroup to
AWP. I've also set several folders to be shared. When clicking on
Network Neighborhood those folders appear fine, but nothing from the
Ubuntu box.

On the Ubuntu box, I've set up Samba and set several directories for
sharing. I've got the Ubuntu box set as

 workgroup = AWP

also.
I've directly edited samba.conf and used

 GADMIN-SAMBA,
 System>Administration>Samba
 System>Administration>Network
 System>Administration>Network Tools
 System>Preferences>File Sharing

and He only knows what else, but when I click on

 Places>Network

I get an icon for

 Windows Network

and clicking on that gives me:

 Unable to mount location
Failed to retrieve share list from server

Trying to print brings up the printer screens (whatever one each program
throws at me) and everything acts fine, but nothing happens. Not even
any type of failure message.
