Wow! The first thing I will get rid off on an Ubuntu server will be 
firestarter. It can join firewall-builder on the list of netfilter tools 
to never use.

Currently we use the TCP/IP system/protocol for networking. Data are 
sent in packets which all have certain characteristics to identify what 
connection they belong to etc. A packet filter is therefore what is more 
commonly known as a firewall.
