That's probably because Ray added an entry for www.linuxforums.org with
this address in his /etc/hosts file to rule out DNS problems.

That's indeed strange: UDP packets do reach the target, TCP packets don't.

@Ray: you don't have any packet filter active on your machine or your
DSL router, do you?
