+1 for the feature

Not sure about the "GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT" tip though. My _RECOLLECTION_
is that setting it to zero (its default, I think) means that you have
to press "shift" in order to display the menu and setting it to 10
means that you have 10 seconds to press escape in order to display the
menu.
