There are no stupid questions - only stupid answers. And no, you can't 
have direct disk access without root privilege. From your previous posts 
I remember that you want to do some file system research. For that 
purpose it might be sufficient if you install Ubuntu in a virtual 
machine (like Virtualbox) whith a virtual disk. Then you would have root 
access for that virtual disk.
