If the machine can boot to a USB drive, then I would say you are all set. Pop in XEN cd, install, create your VMs, etc.

Subject: Xen/VMware on external hard drive

Hello,

We need to do some kernel project for the graduate course and the departmental machine don't give root permission. Therefore I have one question

Can we install Xen/VMplayer on an external hard drive and on top of it, install Ububtu, thereby, have root permission in the virtual machine ?

Can someone help or give some hints on this issue ?

Thanks
Mir
