Left-click on the system monitor icon.
Choose, "Processes." (it should come up with the processes tab already
chosen)
Click on the CPU column heading until the little arrow points upward to
sort by highest usage. The one on the top should be the offending
process. Kill it by clicking on the, "End Process," button.
