This might be customary for lists you are on, but for all the lists I'm 
on it is customary to reply to the list and never directly to a user. I 
would hate it if people would do that, keeping posts from a list within 
that lists helps me keep my mail organized. If I would get a direct reply 
I usually would just delete it and in some cases would take the trouble 
to check if the mail was also send to the list, but it is very likely you 
will not get any reply from me to a direct mail not send to the list.
