hi,

i've got winxp installed as a guest OS using KVM running on ubuntu 9.04
x64. i have an external USB hard disk plugged into the host system, and
it is formatted fat32. i want to read/write to this disk in the winxp
guest.

additionally, i have a scanner which isn't yet supported by sane (which
was the main reason for installing a winxp guest OS) that i want to
install the drivers for and use inside the winxp guest.

i thought something like this would be well-documented, but i can't seem
to find anything relevant. i seem to have found some documentation from
2 or 3 years ago, that talks about using the -usb with qemu, and
switching to a console in the guest OS (using ctrl-alt-2), and then use
a command like usb_add or something. i have tried to switch to this
console, but i do not get to a "(qemu) " prompt, or any sort of prompt.
in fact there is no cursor, and whatever i type is not inputted.

appreciate your help. thanks
