Terminal keyboard AWOL

Anyone using an Acer Aspire One D250?

I have the oddest issue. UNR is installed and everything works, except -
when things change relating to the network, it almost always loses
keyboard in terminals! The mouse still works, new programs can be
started, other programs still have keyboard input, but no kbd input on
terminals is possible. No help possible except a reboot.

I will try to collect more info, but if this is familiar to anyone,
please let me know!
