Gnome or KDE?

i would further count the multiple platform support a feature worth
considering. granted, you can do cross platform of rcs (or what-have-you),
but that's yet more learning curve. the average user does not do well with
"just follow the howto", and as a problem solution, that is more than a
skosh condescending
