 It should be possible to tie a visual indicator alert to the sound, if you
wanted to check.  Probably in some type of accessibility package.  Maybe an
expert will chime in.

Try switching to a different sound?.  That particular sound may have become
corrupt somehow.  No sure if  that is really a good possibility but it only
takes a couple of clicks to check.  That would be something I look at if I
was trying to do basic troubleshooting but other than that I have no clue.
