It's no surprise that most programming tutorials start beginners off
with Hello World -- it has a high probability of success and shows
immediate results. This will continue to encourage and inspire you.
Python is an excellent choice for exactly this reason. Great choice! But
don't be afraid of C/C++, either. At least for console apps, it's not
difficult to read something from the console or write text back out to
same.
