Something doesn't jive. If you are plugging into the stereo speaker's
headphone jack, that is an electro-mechanical connection, simple round
stereo plug into round stereo jack hole operation which physically
shunts the signal to the headphone while disconnecting the speakers,
which the computer doesn't have anything to do with. If this is a
digital switch, controlled by the OS, it's a new one on me. Someone with
knowledge of this, please chime in. Maybe we'll both learn something
new.
But, if you have a USB headset, with that flat little connector with the
little holes, pavucontrol will send the signal to your headphones.
This must be the 20th time, in 3-4 months, I've written that. I keep
hearing in my head Group Captain Lionel Mandrake shouting "USE THE GUN!
