Hi, jumping into the middle of a conversation that I wasn't listening to
because I saw you saying that nothing happens presumably when you tell
the computer you want to run google earth.

Excuse me butting in if this is irrelevant but I just built a new PC for
my son and used the
make-googleearth-package --force
procedure to create a 64 bit installer. After installing with either
dpkg or gdebi it just didn't do anything.

I got it working for him earlier today by doing this:-
sudo aptitude install lsb-core

Ignore me if this isn't the solution to whatever your problem is.
