not sure if i've asked this on this list before but is it possible
to set up a simple NFS client/server using *solely* NFSv4? that is,
with no earlier version support running?
if you look in the service script /etc/init.d/nfs-kernel-server, you
can see the options that allow you to de-activate support for earlier
versions, as in:
RPCMOUNTDOPTS="$RPCMOUNTDOPTS --no-nfs-version 3"
once upon a time, i tried to start NFS while de-activating all of
versions 1, 2 and 3, but that failed as NFS seemed to want at least
one earlier version, regardless of what version it was.
can this be done? and if the entire network supports NFSv4, is
there any reason why i *wouldn't* want to go with an exclusively NFSv4
network?
