No need to install anything to use the standard GNOME desktop. Just
log out, and when you choose your username to log in, look at the
bottom of the login screen and choose the regular desktop option (I
don't remember the exact wording).
You can install other desktop environments, such as KDE or LXDE, and
after they are installed I believe you can choose among them in the
same fashion.
