anyone else notice that pre-release 10.10 is sloooooow?

  i'm running the pre-release of maverick meerkat on my laptop and
what i notice is that the system just goes away for a second or two or
three on a regular basis.  (just now, as i was typing that sentence,
the system paused at displaying "syste", did nothing for a couple
seconds, then continued on, displaying the next couple words i'd
already typed in.

  i don't remember this behaviour from 10.04.  (and it's done the same
thing a few more times simply during the time it's taken to write this
post.)

  thoughts?  those pauses are always accompanied by a flurry of disk
activity.
