It has been the norm for years now.  I have had wonderful success doing
up/grades/ ever since Warty.  The move to Lucid was my first
re-installation since then and I first upgraded, then re-installed just
to remove old cruft.  Granted, there have been some minor problems from
release to release, but no show-stoppers.
