Hi all!

This post is not about asking for a solution for some kind of problem,
instead it is about giving back some information to the community.

I got an "old" Asus eePC, model 701, which is shipped with a Xandros Linux
distribution. Since this distribution is a little bit out of date, I
decided to look for a newer one and after some googling, I got to
Ubuntu's Netbook edition here: http://www.ubuntu.com/netbook.

I decided to give it a try, downloaded the distribution and installed it
on an USB stick as described here:
http://www.ubuntu.com/netbook/get-ubuntu/download. However, installation
did not work since my eeePC did not recognize the USB drive at startup.

After some more googling I found this blog entry:
http://www.fsdaily.com/blog/problems-installing-eeebuntu-eee-pc-700-bootable-usb-device-solved.
Basically it says, that the recommended "Startup Disk Creator" will not do
the job, for whatever reason, instead one should use the UNetbootin tool
at http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/. After creating the drive with this
stick, the installation worked like a charm!

After the sucessful installation on my eeePC, I was literally surprised,
that everything worked without any problems. Camera, sound, keys -
absolutely everything - no problems at all! The user interface of the
Netbook edition is absolutely great! I really like it, and it's much
better than the Xandros distribution.

With this mail, I'd simply like to say thanks to all of you having ever
contributed to this edition, even though this might not be the right
mailing list. However, I assume some of you (developers, contributors,
etc.) will read this. You did a great job!

Thanks a lot!
