Ubuntu or Red-Hat for servers?

Exactly, it does boil down to that. I think when one is young, it's
easier to assume the $fancyDistroOfTheDay is the one to use. As you
spend more time in this messy thing called IT business, you end up
using whatever that works. Luckily Linux works a lot nicer than
Windows in most cases when it comes to servers - AIX still has its
niche.
OpenSolaris on the hand... I'm not really sorry that it's dead as a
dodo and I hope it shall be extinct soon! Die! Die! Die! :)
